Special applications
Battery Simulator App
The KickStart Battery Simulator application provides users with an easy way to create, manage and simulate battery models, as well as the ability to cycle test batteries. This optional professional application for KickStart software can be used with the Keithley 2281S Power Supply/Battery Simulator for simulating battery models, the Keithley 2380 DC Electronic Load for generating battery models, and the Keithley 2400 Graphic Series and 2600A/B Series SMUs (A-channel only) for generating battery models, battery simulation, and battery charge/discharge cycle testing. charge/discharge cycle testing) are used together.
This battery simulator app includes:
- Ability to generate, edit and simulate custom battery models
- Responsive user interface that allows real-time changes to simulate charging states
- Tabular and graphical views for visualizing data collection in real time
- Browse multiple battery models saved in the local drive repository
- Ability to import and export models from KickStart software
- Dynamic and static battery modeling
- Real-time updating of values for dynamic battery models
- Visualization of battery VOC, Vt, SOC, ESR, current and capacity
- Integrated solution using SMUs with simultaneous stimulators, model generators, and round robin testing
- Ability to test batteries with multiple charge and discharge cycles and access to multiple test cutoff conditions
The KickStart Battery Simulator application requires either a KICKSTARTFL-BAT perpetual floating license or a KICKSTARTFL-BAT-AN one-year subscription license. The floating license allows the selected user to manage the process of transferring a single license between different PCs.

High resistivity applications
The optional High Resistivity Meter Application (HRMA) for KickStart can be used in conjunction with Keithley's Static Meter/High Resistivity Meter Type 6517B. 6517B and 8009 Resistivity Test Fixtures are the laboratory standard for volume and surface resistivity measurements of insulating materials. Together, they can be used to measure the volume and surface resistivity of insulating materials at voltages up to 1000V for measurements up to 1018Ω resistance.
The KickStart high resistance measurement option makes it easier:
- Determine material resistivity quickly and reliably using ASTM D257-compliant testing
- Performs a step response test to determine the electrification time appropriate to the time constant of the material
- Observe the correlation of resistivity with ambient temperature and relative humidity using the optional Models 6517-TP and 6517-RH probes.
- Eliminates inherent background currents for accurate resistivity measurements using an alternating polarity measurement technique.
The KickStart High Resistivity application requires a license: KICKSTARTFL-HRMA2 Floating Perpetual License or KICKSTARTFL-HRMA2-AN One Year License. The floating license allows the selected user to manage the process of transferring a single license to different PCs.

I-V Curve Tracer Application
Keithley I-V logger software utilizes the 2400 series graphical SourceMeter® The unique touchscreen interface of the SourceMeter Unit (SMU) instrument recreates the familiar user experience of a two-terminal device waveform recorder. Adding an I-V logger to a SourceMeter instrument provides a dedicated user interface for tracking device characteristics in terms of both current and voltage. The I-V logger is compatible with a wide range of instruments, allowing the full functionality of each SourceMeter unit to be utilized, including the ability to perform AC polarity, pulsed DC, and standard DC polarity tracking with the 2461 Dual High-Speed Digitizer.
