Inquire about this product

The TOS5300 series is a test instrument that performs withstand voltage and insulation impedance tests, which are among the four tests that must be performed to ensure the safety of electrical products. With outputs of 5kV/100mA (AC) and 6kV/10mA (DC), the TOS5300 Series can perform withstand voltage/insulation impedance tests on electronic devices and electronic components based on the requirements of safety regulations and electrical product safety laws of various countries such as IEC, EN, UL, VDE, and JIS. In addition, a newly developed switching amplifier has been adopted to improve the stability of the test voltage. Since the output voltage is not affected by variations in AC input voltage and frequency, stable output voltage can be maintained, enabling stable and safe testing in areas with unstable power supply environments. The TOS5300 series is a model that combines operability, practicality, and safety with a variety of functions to meet the needs of a wide range of customers.

Product Features and Benefits

Completes AC withstand voltage test with stable output! [Input voltage variation rate ±0.3%].

The output waveform is an important specification in withstand voltage testing!

General withstand voltage testers are designed to step up the input voltage of an AC line with a converter transformer and output it. With this type of transformer, the output is affected by variations in the input voltage, and sometimes the test may not be completed correctly. The TOS5300 series has a built-in high-efficiency PWM amplifier that is not affected by AC line voltage fluctuations, and can output a stable high voltage, making it possible to securely and stably realize highly reliable and safe testing even in areas with high voltage fluctuations.

Output terminals for improved safety and functionality

Elimination of protruding parts and leveling has been realized. Adopted a new structure for LOW terminals

The HIGH side output terminal is located furthest away from the operator's side in consideration of the actual field environment and operator's safety. A rotating mechanism prevents cable twisting (shorting). The LOW terminal on one side is also equipped with a locking structure on the body side, and the hardware for the test leads on the LOW side is removed so that the test leads are not easily damaged. When the protrusions of these output terminals are eliminated, damage due to inadvertent movement, etc., can be prevented. In addition, the HIGH side terminals are designed to be easy to detach when the test body and the connecting cable are jammed or when additional force is applied, while the LOW side terminals are less likely to be detached.

The countermeasures against accidental insertion are also well developed.

In order to prevent insertion errors, not only HIGH (red), but also LOW (black) colors are used for differentiation. The terminal shapes are also different.

Realization of high precision, high resolution, and high speed judgment

Equipped with a high-accuracy, high-resolution True RMS measurement circuit, the voltmeter has a resolution of ±1.5% of reading (500V or more) / Min resolution of 1 μA, and an auto-ranging function that achieves a judgment accuracy of ±1.5% of reading, and a lower-limit judgment accuracy equal to the upper-limit judgment accuracy. The lower limit judgment accuracy is equal to the upper limit judgment accuracy, effectively detecting unconnected test leads or poor contact, etc., and realizing high-speed judgment with a test time of 0.1 second. The high-precision, high-resolution, high-speed measurement and judgment functions enable a wide range of reliable tests.

Panel covers to prevent misuse at the production site

Prevent misuse on a physical level!

Workers on production lines or inspection lines for electronic equipment are in many cases not necessarily specialized technicians, and are likely to change instrument settings without noticing, leading to misuse. To prevent this, the TOS5300 series is equipped with a key lock function along with a cover that prevents physical manipulation of the panel.

Rise time/fall time control

  • Rise time control function
During the AC withstand voltage test, it is equipped with a rise time control function that slowly raises the voltage to the set voltage value. The voltage rise time can be set at the 0.1s level within the range of 0.1s to 10.0s.
  • Down time control function
During the PASS judgment of the AC withstand voltage test, the test voltage can be made to drop slowly. The voltage drop time is fixed at 0.1s (can also be turned off).

Reference: Specific examples of safety specifications (periodic testing)

  • IEC60950 / J60950 (information processing equipment)
The test voltage applied to the insulated part shall be slowly increased from zero to the specified voltage and held at the specified value for a period of 60 seconds.
  • IEC60335 / J60336 (home appliances)
A voltage value of less than half of the specified value should be applied initially, followed by a slow rise to the specified voltage value.
  • IEC60065 / J60065 (audio, video)
A voltage value of less than half of the specified value should be applied initially and then increased sharply to the final value and held for a period of 1 minute.
  • IEC61010 / JIS C 1010
To avoid the occurrence of any perceptible excesses, the voltage is slowly increased to the specified value in less than 5 seconds and held for 5 seconds before the test is carried out.

Need for Rise Time Control Control Function

The rise time control function is a function used to prevent additional pressure from being applied to the EUT (equipment under test). Originally, the voltage withstand test was performed to confirm the safety of the EUT, but the test voltage value for the voltage withstand test is very high and can be 5 to 10 times the voltage value handled by the EUT. If a high voltage is applied rapidly without allowing for a rise time, excessive voltage (current) may be generated, causing damage to the EUT. If the EUT shows insulation damage as a result of testing, it can be easily recognized as a defective product. However, if the insulation is damaged in the middle of the test, a problem may occur. In other words, it is possible that "at first glance there is nothing wrong, and the withstand voltage test has been passed, but in reality, the insulation performance has deteriorated. However, in reality, the insulation performance has deteriorated. In this case, the EUT may be sold as a product on the market and then become insulated, which is very dangerous. It is very likely that a test to confirm safety will be conducted with results that jeopardize safety. For this reason, various safety specifications require that the method of withstand voltage testing be specified and that the test voltage be slowly increased to the specified voltage value when the test is performed. The rise time control function of the TOS5300 Series allows the voltage rise time to be set in the range of 0.1s to 10.0s (0.1s resolution). In addition, the initially applied start voltage can be set to 50% (fixed) of the test voltage. In addition, by using the drop time function, the test voltage can be slowly reduced after the PASS judgment is completed and finished. The voltage drop time is fixed at 0.1s (can also be turned off).
