Main characteristics

stakeless test

The Fluke 1625-2 Ground Resistance Tester measures ground loop resistance using only the jaws. To use this measurement method, two jaws are clamped to a ground rod and each jaw is connected to the tester. The use of a grounding stake is not required at all. One jaw senses a known fixed voltage and the other jaw measures the current. The tester then automatically determines the resistance of the earth rod. This test method is only applicable if there is a grounding system in the building or structure under test, although this is true in most cases. If there is only one pathway to ground, as is the case in many residential applications, and the stakeless test method does not provide an acceptable value, then the potential drop test method must be used.

With stakeless testing, there is no need to disconnect ground rods - the integrity of the bonded grounding system is maintained during the test. Now there's no need to spend time placing and connecting stakes to ground rods on the system, which can be a huge time saver. You can also perform grounding tests in locations you've never considered before, including inside buildings, cable towers, or anywhere you can't reach the ground.

Full-featured tester

The Fluke 1625-2 is a ground tester with a difference, performing all four types of ground measurements:

  • Three- and four-pole potential drops (using ground stakes)
  • Quadrupole soil resistivity test (using ground stakes)
  • Selective testing (using ground stake and 1 jaw)
  • Stakeless testing (using only 2 jaws)
