Soft-switching method
This is a power supply circuit method that cleverly utilizes the resonance phenomenon to switch at the zero point state of voltage or current when the power device is ON or OFF. The principle is that no transient crossing of voltage and current occurs, making it possible to switch without loss. Switching at zero voltage is called ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) and switching at zero current is called ZCS (Zero Current Switching). In the past, general circuits had the problem that power switching devices operated at high speeds increased power loss and decreased efficiency, but soft switching reduces the heat loss generated by power supplies and makes circuits more efficient, thus making miniaturization possible. In addition to the miniaturization itself, it is also characterized by a significant reduction in power supply noise.

Equipped with power factor improvement circuit
Power factor (PF) is the value of the efficiency of an AC circuit, i.e. the proportion of active power in the apparent power. The closer the power factor is to 1, the more efficiently the electrical equipment utilizes the power. Power factor improvement circuits are embedded in the input of power supply circuits to compensate for the phase difference between AC voltage and current (phase difference in waveforms = the cause of reactive power generation) and to improve the efficiency of electrical energy utilization. The specific benefits are as follows.

Expansion of power by parallel operation
Parallel operation of Max 5 units (same model)
Parallel operation of Max5 units including the main unit is possible (PAT850-9.4T, PAT1000-8T, PAT1500-5.3T can support 2 units). Adopting a single-control parallel operation connection, the entire system is controlled and displayed using the main unit's panel (Max output current: single unit rated output current × number of parallel connections). The current value can be displayed on the slave unit only when the STORE switch on the main unit's panel is pressed.※1. In addition, the PC01-PAT is connected according to the optional parallel running cable.
※1 400V input for 8kW type (20V series, 40V series, 60V series, 160V series) and 4kW type are not supported at this time (shown from the electromechanical current).
Max2 units of the same model in series operation
Up to 2 units can be connected in series for 8kW models (PAT20-400T / PAT30-266T / PAT40-200T / PAT60-133T / PAT80-100T / PAT160-50T) and 4kW models. However, single control operation is not possible. The sum of the output voltages of the two units is supplied to the load.

The current is limited to approximately 75% of the rated current. therefore, the power is also limited to 3kW.

CV, CC priority start function※2
When the output is ON, it can be set to start with a constant voltage (CV) power supply or a constant current (CC) power supply. The CV priority mode is used for constant voltage operation and the CC priority mode is used for constant current operation, enabling smooth startup without overshoot.

External analog control function
The output voltage is controlled with an external voltage of 0V to about 10V (Vext) or an external resistor of 0kΩ to about 10kΩ (Rext). In addition, if the FAST mode is selected※3The external control can be used directly without the CPU, and there is no delay time between the relative control voltage and the output voltage change.

Vehicle electronics related applications

For simple power fluctuation tests
Parallel connection of a DC electronic load device and a high voltage DC power supply can be used as a suspected battery to simulate medium speed power fluctuations. Fluctuation waveforms can be written and executed with the timing program editing software Wavy.

For absorbing inrush currents in motors
When evaluating the performance of brushless motors, the regenerative current generated by brushless motors is absorbed to protect the power supply and ECU.

Solar power related applications - for simple evaluation of power conditioners
Control solar panels, loads in the home, and AC lines in a time sequence on the same time axis to simulate changing conditions over long periods of time.


Example of V2H / L EV simulator
When developing a V2H/L machine (power converter) for a fast charging station using an EV, there is a risk of damage to the EV, and there is a problem that various charging specifications (CHAdeMo, Combo, GB, etc.) do not correspond to each other. Therefore, we recommend the use of an EV simulator to evaluate the charging of various charging specifications, the charging of the V2H pointer, and the power supply device without using an EV (real vehicle).

Example of DC-DC converter evaluation system
The system is composed of one DC power supply and two electronic load devices. The performance evaluation of the DC-DC converter for power supply of on-board electrical appliances can be easily carried out by using the specialized control software.

Example of power type semiconductor evaluation test system
The PAT-T series can be used for overheating tests of semiconductors and for measuring the temperature change of semiconductors during high-current, high-speed startup. The PAT-T series is a high-power switching power supply that can be used to measure the rising edge of hundreds of A to thousands of A in the order of a few milliseconds. The PLZ-5W series can be used for even higher speeds.

Battery Evaluation Test Example
High-speed operation is not possible with only a high-power switching power supply PAT-T series, but by connecting an electronic load device PLZ-5W series in series and parallel, a unipolar power supply with high-speed response can be formed. As a result, it is possible to synchronize the battery's formal charging current and discharging current and to flow the current during high-speed operation.

Fuse Blowing Test Example
In the fuse blowing test, the constant current operation of the DC power supply requires high speed current control. High-speed current control is difficult to achieve with a DC power supply alone, but by combining it with the electronic load device PLZ-5W, high-speed current control can be achieved. Fuse blowing test requires JASO D612 standard. Various tests required by the standard can be performed. (Voltage drop test, transient current blocking test, fuse time test, step-by-step energization test, blocking capacity test).

Example of evaluation of current sensors with a large range
By combining with a DC power supply to form a high-precision constant-current power supply, it is also possible to support evaluation of current sensors and the like. In addition, a 3-stage range setting is available, and the current setting resolution can be selected according to the current value to be set.
