Chroma 19035 Wirewound Component Electrical Safety Scanning Tester is designed for motor, transformer, heater and other related wirewound products to conduct safety tests, so that wirewound component manufacturers not only have reliable quality, but also can be more efficient for product quality control during quality verification tests.
The Chroma 19035 has a 5kVac/6kVdc high voltage output, which meets the needs of voltage withstand testing of wire-wound components, with a maximum output current of up to 30mA. IR insulation resistance can be measured in the range of 1MΩ to 50GΩ, with a voltage output of up to 5kV. DCR DC resistance measurement can be used not only to measure the basic specifications of the wire-wound components, but also to check the connection (contact) prior to the safety withstand test. DC resistance measurement can also be used as a connection (contact) check prior to the safety test.
The 19035 is equipped with powerful additional functions such as Flashover and OSC detection, as well as programmable voltage and time parameters, which can be used for different characteristics of the object to be tested, preventing defective products from passing the quality verification easily, and improving the reliability of the test itself and the quality of the product.
The 19035 is a comprehensive safety tester designed to meet the testing needs of motors, transformers, heaters and other related wirewound components. Most wirewound components have multiple windings, such as three-phase motors, dual-winding transformers, etc. With the 19035's eight-channel scanning, there is no need to manually switch between test points, and the test can be accomplished at one time, saving test time and labor costs.
The 19035 provides OSC and DCR functions to check whether there is poor contact or short-circuit phenomenon of the object to be tested during the test process, solving the contact problems occurring during the test of motors, transformers and other wire-wound components, improving the test quality and prolonging the life of the test equipment.
Flashover Detection
The 19035 has the same Flashover detection function as other Chroma safety test instruments. Flashover is an electrical discharge inside or on the surface of an insulating material due to a high electrical boundary, where the object to be tested loses its original insulating properties and forms a transient or discontinuous discharge, resulting in carbonization of the conductive path or product damage. It is often impossible to detect defects by leakage current. It is necessary to use the test voltage or the rate of change of leakage current to determine the detection of defects. Therefore, Flashover detection is one of the indispensable inspection items for high voltage testing.
Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI) Human Body Protection Circuitry
Safe test equipment must have an automatic cut-off function when the operator is electrocuted, i.e. GFI human protection circuit. As can be seen in the figure, the ammeter A1 and A2 can be used to obtain i1and i2 ; When the operator is electrocuted, the ammeter measures different values separately and the difference is i1-i2=iH, when iHIf it is too high, it will be judged as a bad GFI and the output signal will be cut off immediately to protect the user's safety.
Open / Short Check (OSC) Open Short Check
The OSC function is to detect whether there is an open circuit (poor contact) or short circuit (short circuit of the object to be tested) during the test process. If an open circuit occurs during testing, the defective product will be misclassified as good; if a short circuit occurs, it can be detected and screened in advance to minimize damage to the fixtures and equipment, and to save testing costs.
General withstand voltage test products are capacitive (Cx), in the normal state may be between tens of pF to several μF. Once the connection is broken, a small capacitance (Cc) will be formed at the interface of the broken circuit, generally less than 10pF, and the overall capacitance is much lower than the normal product phenomenon, while when the object to be tested is short-circuited or close to the short-circuit, the capacitance will be much higher than the normal phenomenon, and therefore the capacitance can be utilized to determine the upper and lower limits of the change in the wiring is good.
High Speed Contact Check (HSCC)
High Speed Contact Check (HSCC) is Chroma's newly developed contact checking technology, which quickly scans the circuit contacts of the object to be tested to see if they are normal. This new technology allows contact checking before voltage testing to be done more quickly than ever before.
DCR DC Resistance 2-wire/ 4-wire test
The Chroma 19035 includes DCR measurement (2-wire/ 4-wire) as one of the standard measurement items. The 2-wire measurement is suitable for larger DCR measurements, while the 4-wire measurement is suitable for smaller DCR measurements due to its higher accuracy.
Temp Compensation
When measuring small DCR values, problems are often encountered due to temperature differences. When measuring different temperatures, the measured resistance value will also be different. Therefore, the 19035 incorporates a temperature compensation function (Temp Compensation), which converts the DCR to the value measured at the standard temperature by converting the temperature coefficient to minimize the impact of temperature differences.
DC Resistance Balance Determination (DCR Balance)
DCR value is usually related to inductive balance. When the DCR of a three-group winding motor is not balanced, it leads to rotational imbalance, which will result in poor quality after long-term use.The DCR balance determination subtracts the maximum and minimum values of the windings, and if it exceeds the range of the set value, it is considered defective, and it is an auxiliary tool for the long-term reliability test of motor products.
Contact Check
The DCR test not only measures the DC resistance of a winding, but also serves as a wiring condition check before the Hipot test. the Chroma 19035 can use the DCR measurement to check the external contact condition of the winding, especially for the winding components that have a capacitance value of less than 20pF between the test points.
