The 66205 is the second generation of the 66200 series of digital power meters designed for single-channel power measurement applications. Designed with precision circuitry to provide high-precision power measurement capabilities that meet the requirements of the IEC62301/EN50564 standards, the 66205's enhanced functionality further enhances the accuracy and reliability of power measurement applications.
The Smart Range function allows Power Integration to measure power under automatic gear conditions, measuring dynamic or unstable voltage and current signals. Even when gears are switched with signal changes, measurement data is not lost, allowing for truly gapless waveform sampling and measurement.
The 66205 has a very wide current measurement range, with a minimum of 5mA and a maximum of 30A, for a total of 10 measurement levels, and can also be increased by utilizing an external 60A~1200A sensor (optional).
There are 6 voltage measurement levels, the highest level is 600V, and the voltage range can also be increased to 1.8kV by using an external sensor (option A662023), the wide range of measurement levels can be applied to both low power and high power measurement applications. Voltage, current, and power have a low grade error of 0.05%, especially in Energy Star (Energy Star) standby power (Standby Power) test with high accuracy performance.
The 66205 is designed to meet the requirements of IEC 61000-4-7 for harmonic measurement, with high performance for uninterrupted harmonic measurement, 5Hz frequency resolution, and harmonic grouping capabilities for accurate measurement of sub-harmonics, inter-harmonics, and harmonics.
The 66205 provides four communication interfaces, including GPIB, USB, RS-232 and LAN (optional), which can be conveniently used for remote control, and with the SoftPanel software control interface, complete test reports can be created, as well as testing for power quality regulations. In addition, the STORE function can be used to record measurement values and store the recorded data on a USB memory device. The Limit function can be used for production testing to determine the upper and lower GO/NG limits for voltage, current, power and other measurement parameters, and can also be used with an I/O port to achieve automated production. 66205 is suitable for R&D, quality assurance verification, and production units to meet the needs of power and other related parameters.
measured parameter
The 66205 Power Meter provides reliable and accurate measurements of the following parameters: Vrms, Vpeak+, Vpeak-, V_harmonic, V_THD, CFV (voltage crest factor), Irms, Ipeak+,Ipeak-, I_harmonic, I_THD, Is (inrush current), CFI (current crest factor), W, VA, VAR, PF, Freq_V (voltage signal frequency), Freq_I (current signal frequency), Wh, Ah,º (phase frequency). , W, VA, VAR, PF, Freq_V (Voltage Signal Frequency), Freq_I (Current Signal Frequency), Wh, Ah,º (Phase Angle).
Parameter Measurement Method: Averages all measured values over a time frame for a continuously moving gapless viewport. Note that the Time frame time setting is equivalent to Data Update Rate x AVG.

Line Filter Function
The Line Filter is a digital low-pass filter with high attenuation (≥ 70 dB). When the Line Filter setting is activated, the measured value does not include high frequency components, e.g. high frequency noise components of a switching power supply. The 66205 is supplied with three Line Filters, with cut-off frequencies of OFF, 500 Hz and 5.5 kHz. The 5.5 kHz Line Filter specification is in accordance with the equipment requirements of the IEC 61000-3-2 international standard, and it is recommended that the filters are switched on for harmonic measurements.

Harmonic Measurement Function (IEC Mode)
| The 66205 is designed in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-7 standard for harmonic measurements. Therefore, in the IEC mode of harmonic measurements, the 66205 provides THD measurements that are consistent with those measured by higher-end IEC 61000-4-7-compliant power analyzers on the market. Combined with the 66200 SoftPanel, the 66205 provides a pre-compliance test solution that complies with IEC 62301 Standby Power Measurement and IEC 61000-3-2:2018 Current Harmonic Limit Values, and produces a simple test report to meet the regulations. | ![]() |
Harmonic Measurement Function (Display Section)
The 66205's Harmonic Measurement Display function displays the amplitude and phase angle of each harmonic on the front panel. The following is an example of the harmonic display function:

The AC power synthesis function is used to generate a voltage waveform with a fundamental frequency of 50Hz, an amplitude of 220V, a third harmonic amplitude of 22V, and a phase angle of 30 degrees. The 66205 can display the amplitude of the fundamental frequency as 220V, as well as the amplitude voltage and phase angle portion corresponding to the third harmonic.

Smart Gear Function (applied to Power Integration Mode)
General power meter in the voltage or current changes need to change the measurement gear, there will be a short period of data loss phenomenon. If the power is measured in integral mode, errors will occur. The 66205's specially designed Smart Range function allows the Power Integration mode to measure power under automatic gear conditions, and measure dynamic or unstable voltage and current signals. Even when gears are switched with signal changes, measurement data will not be lost, allowing true gapless waveform sampling and measurement.

Surge current measurement function

The 66205 power meter provides the function of measuring inrush current (Is), users can set a current alignment (A) to trigger the start of the measurement of the current, or use the TTL signal on the back panel to trigger; in addition to setting the delay parameter (Delay), used to delay the time to actually capture the current waveform, which can help to ignore the beginning of the unwanted waveforms B; the time parameter T, the time length of the actual capture of the waveform. The time parameter T is the length of time the waveform is actually captured. Through the above setting mechanism, the 66205 digital power meter can measure the peak current at point C. In practice, it can avoid the effect caused by the X capacitance at the input of the object to be measured, and can detect the real inrush current of the soft-start. |

High Voltage (HV) Measurement Function
In order to meet the demand of PV inverter, PCS, ESS and other products for high voltage testing above 1000V, the 66205 can be equipped with optional accessories to meet the demand of the highest voltage measurement of 1800V, frequency range (DC, 47~63Hz).
External shunt function

If the maximum current of the UUT exceeds the maximum measurement range of the 66205 Power Meter, an external shunt can be used in conjunction with the Power Meter. Setting the resistance value of the external shunt can be set from 0.0001m to 99.999Ω. Please note that the external shunt can be used for both AC and DC current measurement. |
Current converter CT function
When measuring currents greater than the 30A current measurement range of the 66205, the CT function can be used as an alternative method of measuring current. The CT function can support either CT or DCCT products. Please note that CT can only be used for AC current measurement and DCCT can support both AC and DC current measurement.

66200 Series PC Graphical Interface Software
The 66200 series power meters provide stand-alone software that allows users to control and read data on a PC via USB, GPIB or LAN interface, observe voltage and current waveforms, record time-dependent graphs, set parameters and time, and store long-time measurements in a file for analysis. The software also supports IEC 61000-3-2 Harmonic Current Limit Test Pre-Compliance, which allows the user to confirm whether the UUT meets the harmonic current limit value requirements. In addition, the power efficiency testing software integrates the 66205 power meter, electronic load and AC power supply, which can be set up according to energy-saving specifications, and then automatically test according to the regulatory steps and generate reports, which is quite suitable for R&D or quality assurance verification.
